Show is ok, it has potential to get better but this is coming from someone who has read all the books and played all of the games.

If I hadn't, I feel like I would have liked it more. I have an image of certain characters that don't match the casting at all.

Henry Cavill did an amazing job as Geralt though.

I’m due for a rewatch cuz I didn’t understand that there were different timelines until I looked up discussion for ep 4 Dead ass was confused how the queen was alive with Geralt beside her

Anya definitely won me over although I still prefer book and game Yennefer. As an actress she made me like this Yennefer in a different way if that makes sense.

Ciri is the one that I didn't like at all, I'm not sure if it's because I felt like her scenes were cheesy or something else. I am excited to see her progression though.

Overall this is a great foundation, I honestly wish they gave us 15 episodes in order to expand a bit more on the world but I get why they only went with 8.

Finished it and some of the episodes make it worth a watch and some are great (episode 3 & 8 were great from memory)

overall its of similar quality of shows like the last kingdom and at its best vikings but its going to be nearly as good or grande as GoT which shouldve been expected

Going into this as someone who's only played Witcher 3 and some of Witcher 2

Does the show get dramatically better or something?

Because although I want to see a season 2 it's looking real half assed right now.

The cinematography in this s*** is garbage. The most basic camera angles you can possibly imagine, no creativity or thought at all put into the direction of the show or the dialogue.

The one thing I think the show nailed is the casting. But goddamn they gotta be given more to work with.

I havent gotten very far in the show yet but I'd be surprised if it went from looking a little cheap to some masterpiece quality.

I think they have a huge shot of hitting it out of the park in season 2. But there needs to be a big change in writers cinematographers, and frankly, even the audio engineers f***ed up. The song in episode 2 starting off loud af for no reason then quieting down for dialogue then going full blast again was jarring for no payoff or plot reasons. You're supposed to ease into that s*** lmao.

I know it seems like I hate this show, (I dont) but comparing it to peak Game of Thrones is just f***ing laughable. I dont think we actually are watching the same shows.

All I said is that to me is amazing as a show, we don't have to compare anything to find out what we can enjoy and yes it does have the potential to be on par with got.
You 're comparing peak got with a show that just dropped 8 episodes and its universe is huge anyway.
Would any of the best shows be as it is if it was one season?
Imagine if you saw only one season of got how much would you miss. Same goes with breaking bad etc.
That's why I said potential and you may be right about some technical things but that doesn't make the story worse for me.
Again, it's only one season.
