Saying society sees you as a black man is always hilarious
It is, but it has some validity to it iykyk
posted these quotes multiple times and niggas ignored it because it exposes exactly who Tyler is and contradicts their own morals and beliefs on people who downplay homophobia online and in real life in order to keep bumping his music. cognitive dissonance the word of the decade
HE SAID THIS AT 30 YEARS OLDon UK ban for homophobia
I got treated like a terrorist. I got treated like I was a murderer … It was kind of stupid, and after a while I was like: I don’t even want to come back. But it was more the principle of ‘Y’all really did this, over this? In comparison to other s*** people do that y’all let in?’ … The length of the ban surprised me. But then I remembered — I’m dark skinned, so, ahh, all right, I get it.
on people hanging on to his homophobic lyrics
That’s the thing, bro. People knew I wasn’t homophobic. People knew the intent! That tree over there could be a f****t! Who hasn’t played Call Of Duty online and heard some 11-year-old call you that because you killed him? You knew the intent behind it and then people were faking, like, he’s homophobic? That was pissing me off
on Eminem calling him a f*
Did you ever hear me publicly say anything about that? Because I knew what the intent was. He felt pressured because people got offended for me. Don’t get offended for me. We were playing Grand Theft Auto when we heard that. We rewound it and were like: ‘Oh’ And then kept playing.
Just speaking on the ban & i don't agree with anything he's saying in those two latter quotes.
The UK ban was a bit ridiculous tbf, he'd been allowed into the country plenty of times over the years, I think even a couple weeks before he got banned, he hosted a film screening for fans in the UK who were members of his old subscription service.
The person who banned him was a conservative who later had a failed run as Prime Minister, they were trying to make an example out of him. In fact... she had a history of voting in favour of many anti LGBTQ laws for the majority of her early career.
Odd Future even opened up for Eminem at a Stadium show the year before his ban & he'd been doing shows in the UK every year since 2010
Just thought I'd address that point

while I see what you saying, my post is focusing on what he said at 30 years old about his continued use of homophobic jokes either in his music or against himself. this got more likes than my post, irony is often hilarious

I was just addressing the ban to add context to why it happened for folks who may not have known
I'm anti-homophobia/bigotry in all forms, even when around 50+ year old family members or niggas who grew up in a super religious family & have internalised bigotry due to it
(Them debates be a struggle, but I persevere
)
He's still going to be around, but saying this conversation is going to die down and go away is straight up cap.
As big as he is now, this convo is just going to make it undeniable to ignore considering his rebrand, because what he said in the past was extreme and a lot of people (particular black culture) really feel a way about it.
His fan base has always been white people, so I don’t think he cares about what black people think lol
I am not surprised anymore.
