    This really is the case for basically any new popular horror movie nowadays, not sure why

    It's all opinion too and people going to have differing opinions always lol people praise Hereditary and to me it's just solid...people say Longlegs was overrated but I really dug it and still do

    This really is the case for basically any new popular horror movie nowadays, not sure why

    because of the new embargo timeline that studios have adopted when rolling out movies.

    1st wave: they let influencers and horror creators watch the movie and post social media reactions to go viral/stir up hype.

    these are an easier crowd since they're not critics and they're just fans. they are also hype to get invited, excited about the exclusivity. they can post negative reviews but these people are chosen to generate positive reviews and often will
    ----> 'scariest film in years, i was terrified, a truly horrifying experience'

    2nd wave: critics, outlets, other reviewers watch it and post full reviews. these people aren't primed to enjoy it because its just another movie to them, and may even be primed against it because they're watching it in the wake of all the hype generated from 1st wave

    ----> 'its okay, not great not bad'

    3rd wave: normal people and general audiences watch it opening weekend
    ---> 'shit sucked'

    The hype for this felt EXACTLY like Longlegs

    Early reactions are “omg the scariest horror theatrical experience I’ve ever had, I was shaking by the end of it”

    Just feels like a lot of overreactions and overhype

    is it at least entertaining like weapons?

    weapons wasn’t scary at all but at least it was entertaining

    long legs was just besides like the first 10 minutes

    i think it’s somewhat entertaining but it’s def a slow build to a “payoff” at the end. longlegs definitely got to the action faster. idk how i felt about it right now. i’m gonna go again tomorrow probably
