If an artist wants to use their own song in a documentary or play it on a Versuz battle, they should be allowed to. And the label just gets their cut. Instead of having to ask for permission.

Which is why I think the masters ownership should be "split" (If possible) or the transfer should be explicitly paid for. That way if the artist gives it away, that's their problem.

That’s not what a middleman is. Middlemen don’t bring anything to the table outside of relationships and don’t risk anything.

You literally cannot be a middleman if you put up your money or bring a product to the artist (which they 100% do) to make the product popular. Using your definition, every marketing company or wing for literally every product are middlemen.
