Half life 3 is supposed to launch with this, right?
no
This only worth it if you sell a few skins on the market towards it
Half life 3 is supposed to launch with this, right?
Nope but tonight
$1050 - $1500
yh its over ill buy on ebay in like 10 years for $100 when it bellyflops
F*** this waiting for Xbox helix at this point
they got a date for that?
it’s actually over
the machine can’t even do vr ??
they giving the extra covers
thats enough for life
lmao Valve fanboys have consistently s***ted on Console gamers for the past decade for gaming on a locked OS and the lack of options for upgrading. For them to turn around and glaze an objectively worse and more expensive product because it has Gabe's face on it
speaking of half life i been replaying 2
ravenholm is so kino
Because of a texture mod right?
I wish man
I loaded up my Steam Library with an asinine number of games thinking how cool the library ecosystem continuity between mobile (Steam Deck), home (Steam Machine), and VR (Steam Frame) would be. I expected more like $999 for 2TB when it was first announced, this new price does give me hesitation... but I'm a Mac guy and I don't want to own or build a gaming PC
If Sony just made a fking PSP again I could've gone to them for a library that I could access at home and on the go

Your first sentence is still true and I don't know what any of that nonsense has to do with the Steam Machine
It is overpriced and too locked though sure
It didn't register my 512gb standalone sign up I did when they dropped, just had to sign up now. Definitely not getting one
It caught the other 3. Probably just gonna give them away if I get selected.

I think it's all randomized, I haven't seen any mention of earlier sign ups being given priority

Honestly you're better off getting a prebuild or trying to get good deals for used parts.

go to the nearest micro center and i promise you if you feel overwhelmed by the prospect of building a PC they will help you. i send everyone trying to get into PC gaming over to them, and they're all over the US. i guess if you're not in the US there are probably equivalents though im not sure

True
"Join the list any time before June 25th at 10 a.m. PT. On that date, the list will be closed and randomized, and you will receive an email with your results shortly after."

I'm not really intimidated or overwhelmed by the prospect of building a PC, I know I could do it and tbh it would probably be fun (I enjoyed speccing out a NAS, installing the hard drives and onboard memory upgrade, setting it up), but I just don't want to use Windows or deal with drivers trying to put steamOS on it, or any of that other post-build overhead. I'd rather just have a little prebuilt computer with steamOS to access my game library
That’s a f***ing shame man, wanted a consolelized pc for the living room but I still have my old 6700xt stashed away rn and struggling to find any upside on the steam machine
Might as well just pull that back out, the portability is nice but goddamn

said this to someone else itt
do not use steam OS. just use cachyos handheld, which despite its name is not just for handhelds (really wish they would change the name on that, but whatever). it's everything steam OS does but better in every way, and also not just designed for the few machines steam OS supports, so you could install it on a potato laptop you have lying around and i can almost guarantee you it will work perfectly. if you plan to use it more as a desktop as opposed to a living room PC, you can install the desktop edition. here's their website cachyos.org
you could literally get a better experience right now than the steam machine by building your own and using a different distro, especially someone with experience. i've had my own "steam machine" for 2-3 years now that still eclipses the real one in performance and is a seamless couch PC experience
