and again, why is that? Paul Walker was a movie star. David Bowie was a legend. And according to you, no one knew or cared until they died. and why is it that when white guys did bad things, there was no collective uproar to the extent that a billion dollar company felt the need to create a (poorly thought out, hastily discarded) "hate conduct" policy

you're just thinking very surface level about all of this s***. but it makes sense because your posts show you are a surface level thinker

Because. For. The. Umpteenth. Time. Them. Crackers. Were. Dead. And. Cosby. And. X. Weren't (at the time)

"and why is it that when white guys did bad things, there was no collective uproar to the extent that a billion dollar company felt the need to create a (poorly thought out, hastily discarded) "hate conduct" policy"

Alyssa Milano calling out Harvey Weinstein in a blog in 2017 set off the modern Me Too movement (as far as twitter is concerned. Me Too has been a thing since 2006 on myspace)

That's a fact. That's not an opinion or "surface level" thinking.

Artists are teflon until the hits dry up. MJ was "eccentric" until the music industry lost its use for him, then the public chewed him up and spit him out.

Couldn’t be further from the truth. The media went full lynch mode as soon as he bought the Beatles catalogue

Nothing to do with his “hits”

My question would be for the people listing Kanye, Chris Brown etc - how could they possibly be considered “cancelled” when they achieve the commercial success they do?

  • Jun 2, 2021

Man I don’t even know who’s cancelled anymore if anybody

I listen to David Bowie a lot idk if they ever actually cancelled him or if those rabid mouthed Twitter ghouls just pick and choose at random

My question would be for the people listing Kanye, Chris Brown etc - how could they possibly be considered “cancelled” when they achieve the commercial success they do?

answer is simple. no one rich and famous can get “canceled.” they can get incarcerated, but even that is difficult and usually requires a pattern of decades long flagrant behavior (Weinstein, Cosby, R Kelly)

but because actual activism is harder than online activism, and people’s entire personalities are tied up around being “advocates” for the “marginalized,” they make do with canceling people who don’t have the resources to defend themselves, which is why you always see random folks getting fired over dumb tweets and things like that

I feel like Tupac woulda got cancelled if he was alive too and I wouldn't care lol

  • Jun 2, 2021

Once you stop looking at musicians as role models, it gets easy to listen to their s***. The whole entertainment industry is f***ed so we basically shouldnt watch any form of media using the cancel culture logic lmao
