If we’re having a conversation about Hip Hop and you bring up White People Awards and how much somebody is selling you lose me TBH.

I think it might be Kendrick considering he has the most great albums out of all WC artist but bringing up sales is wack

  • Old heads might say Ice T tbh.

My personal top 3 (not including Pac):

    Kendrick
    Cube
    Nipsey

i grew up on Snoop but he doesn’t have any significant work outside of 3 albums, and most of it is mid. Also the depth in these three cant be beat besides maybe Ice T and DOC

nigga his great albums is a given that just adds to it. like it's basically in arguable. I agree about the white people awards part though. You just arguing just to arguing though, especially with him in your top 3.

  • Dr. Dre obviously is the most important thing to ever happen to West Coast music.

You're right that I came off contradictory, since Kendrick's in my top 3 but I rate the music first.

My point wasn't to argue for the sake of it, just that leading with stats and industry trophies (even Pulitzer, which is legit) misses what makes hip hop great. Because if we're going by awards, streams, or plaques, then Eminem, Drake or Jay Z would be the 'best' by that logic and I'm not making that argument.

Rap is built on how much an artist means to the culture, not how much they appeal to the masses.

The culture wasn't built on Billboard numbers.
