Nah some of y’all need to get smacked expeditiously, “trying too hard to be perfect” like what tf u on u bum
Like this exactly. Thank you. People sound like they're at gunpoint and say the dumbest s*** when they try to complain about this album.
Wait where did that terrible ian connor thread go
i realized it was an ian connor thread & deleted
there is something to be said though about the capability of wanting to win back the world through an album and actually doing it
and he did it like crazy. insane story
I just laugh when people complain about stupid s*** with this album because it sounds performative af. It's always the same arguments
"It's TOO perfect"
"It sounds forced"
"It's critic bait"
"the mixing!!"
Stop recycling Kanye's dumbass talking points and think for yourself. Album is incredible, YOU try to do better than MBDTF
trying too hard to sound grandiose is definitely a valid criticism, and you don’t have to try to do better than MBDTF yourself to criticize it, just like you don’t have to try to do better than MBDTF yourself to say it’s amazing either
getting ragebaited over people disliking a Nazi’s music is insane lmfao
theres always this point with every piece of widely acclaimed art or media or entertainment when the overwhelming love just naturally produces this kinda reverse reaction even from people who love the project to death. kinda like too much of a good thing and you get bored exclusively loving someting. i noticed it with people turning on tpab (dumb drake fans running with it notwithstanding), people turning on random acclaimed movies like godfather etc. i had that with pink floyds dark side of the moon where i really couldnt play it at some point i played it too much. but it doesnt take from the thing in the slightest
nigga was wearing suits saying take care of your girl pushing Rosewood, but he’s pushing white rockstar music!
god damn you niggas
The sound was pure hip-hop for the most part, but this high-brow artsy aesthetic from the artwork paintings to the performance art and choreography from George Condo and Vanessa Beecroft was def inspired by and presented from a Eurocentric lens. Kanye’s proximity to whiteness post-808s has always been part of his appeal to a certain demographic that always separated him from other traditional hip-hop acts.
Still a 10/10 for me but I do feel like projects like Yeezus are more interesting. The era itself was incredible though, GOOD Friday songs like CDDF won't ever be matched imo
whoooooooooooaaaaaaa just another lonely night
nah, can never relate to this sentiment. you tripping hard. another example of niggas overthinking too much online

I don't give a s*** what he "tried" to do, I care what the product is on record. Same with him being a nazi. The album is the album regardless and it sounds great.
Lol, you don't have to tell me that, I know all of that. You have to remember, around that same time Hov was dissing skinny pants and autotune and wore the baggiest jeans. He was arguably just as popular or even more popular then Ye around that time. What Ye was doing during that era wasn't conventional for the time.
To who? In 2009-2010 if you weren’t rocking skinnier pants you were either seen as an old head or someone just not fashion forward at that point. Hov was at the start of his old head era himself and that’s why Blueprint 3 came
out the way it did cause he was falling behind trying to grasp for coolness.

Was negative pr for young thug so had to go

Chance the Rapper just pulled this off as well

trying too hard to be grandiose is a bit of an oxymoron
album is still a 10. Yall just started flipping on it when Ye said he doesnt think its his strongest album
"is mbdtf actually that great" is a "is channel orange better than kaleidoscope dream/blonde" level timeless ktt arguing thread
okay

I don't get this at all. It sounds rough at times. The album is super blown out and compressed with a ton of digital distortion from the mastering process. Graduation and Late Registration are far more polished. You mean it has too many layers and overdubs? That it's overproduced?

Even as someone who doesn’t really listen to this album anymore I am truly baffled at what “too polished” means lol
