Always thought cudi was moreso paying homage to like grunge

Tbh I tried to look for the video I saw of a whole show but can’t find it.
This is him in the video around the same time with the same energy on his old shows

Always enjoyed this album but I experienced a lot after the release so it hit different for me around 2014

This is Cudi at his peak imo

Love that he incorporates elements of rock/electronic. Feel like the “genrebending” on MOTM2 was done tastefully. MOMT1 had more of a pop sound imo. That’s why I was kinda disappointed with it at first. The production on the second album was more dark and edgy. Better drums. Didn’t sound cheap. REVOFEV, Mojo So Dope, The Mood, Maniac, Mr Rager still sound good to me

Cudi and Ye brought together rock, hip hop, and pop in a cool way. Their music/wave felt hip hop at its core but the elements/aesthetic they borrowed from added a nice touch. Didn’t feel contrived at the time. It was just the new wave. Rock tees with Jordan’s, leather jackets, chains, ripped jeans, designer pieces, suits with black shades. MOTM2 was apart of the soundtrack for that whole wave

This album def held me down when I was in a dark place. Songs like All Along and Don’t Play This stayed on repeat. Really miss this era. We got so many great albums in 2010 damn. Crazy to think we were bumping Pilot Talk 1 and 2, MBDTF, Kush & OJ came out summer 2010, More About Nothing, Overly Dedicated

    Wtf bro 😢

It’s good. Unique. Almost very very good.

prod on this album is so special. cinematic, psychedelic, hip hop, ambient, dark, experimental.

absolutely rinsed both the MOTMs w my lil bro playing video games together back in the day, especially the second one tho. then listened some more in the quiet hours with headphones. Cudi was the big bro who's always there for u def

one of the most underrated rap albums of the 10s to me no doubt

The production was dark and lyrics more. That documentary showed all of it.
