He trashed it on drink champs iirc, called it democrat music
yea, I'm gonna take this one with a grain of salt tho cuz it's clearly politically loaded and on some bs, I mean more like he never talks about its musical brilliance
it's his only undeniable classic he has never really talked about musically
Top 2 Ye album (imo)

Tbh it does get forgotten a lot. Idk if it’s because it kind of lives in the shadow of CD and maybe Grad too, there’s just never been as much discourse around it as other albums. I started feeling like maybe part of it is the title and artwork aren’t the most memorable or evocative and maybe that doesn’t help it to stand out. It has a strong argument for being his best album but it’s legacy isn’t really strong enough to put it as his true greatest album when the others have such stronger legacies
I feel like no one really talks about it musically. No one ever talks about how Jon Brion was the best match for him and better than Mike Dean, there’s zero discourse on that legendary collab so I feel you
as life goes on we need to acknowledge this is his best album
Its not even close tbh

nah I feel you, it might be the epitome of a fan favorite

I remember when I got my first pair of nice headphones as a kid, this was the album I used to test them. And I didn’t even know s*** about production I just knew it was the most immersive album I had. The little details in the production are unmatched by any of Ye’s other work
i found this cd when i was looking thru my old collection a couple weeks ago. his attention to detail even in the cd packaging and marketing for the album is what separated ye from everybody else

yea it's an absolute masterpiece, wish he would talk about it more or at least acknowledge it as one of his very best, it's so frustrating

I wonder if anything went down with him and Jon Brion that would make him not want to acknowledge it as his best. Maybe not. But they never worked together again and I wish they did
Was just watching Heard ‘Em Say with my son since it’s in black and white.
He was locked in

I was just going to ask what happened between the two. They made magic in early on and they never worked with each other again
