I said take your charmin ultra soft ass on somewhere

clearly you can’t even understand how I speak or how to a***yze a bar/joke, so why would I continue discussing hiphop with you if you just tryna turn it into this weird ass struggle Olympics?

I’m literally a black man in America

sorry bout all that? Free Palestine

What do u being a black man in America gotta do with it being nasty and reckless? What did the double entendre mean then? What struggle olympics? I never compared my struggle nor the struggle of that one artist to anyone, was just talking about how it’s interesting on a meta level I didn’t even link dude in the OP nor do I care anymore about talking about him. If your pro Palestine treat our heritage with respect even if you dislike our opinions, mans really gotta feel the affects of being lumped in out here man we are a distinct minority with brown skin being persecuted by white people that don’t get the privileges they get.
Edit: just saw the edit, I appreciate your apology.

So many rappers we love play up their story for a rap image/character.

Carti, Drake, Rick Ross, etc. I know Sahbabii isn’t actually street but that doesn’t mean his music doesn’t hold value

Carti and Rick Ross both hold no value, because they're obviously playing a characters, where you can tell the lyrics are either just them playing out their fantasies or it's not their main priority.

The reason why Drake was taken so seriously, because his early projects (particularly imo So Far Gone and Take Care) had a lot of songs where he talk about his past life, relationships, and his family.

It's only until later, his music started to lack a lot of that imo.

Then he started to take up a Mob Boss persona.

Mans throw that implied s*** all the time it would all be good if you just wasn’t all hot headed going into it. Ain’t no olympics I don’t compare my struggles to other people nor groups despite the fact I gotta find out how to spread this dollar for a good meal after this and haven’t eaten a meal in 48 hours, I’m just tryna have a fun talking on a forum for escapism dawg. I’m atleast hard enough to be get out of bed after this year

I’m respectfully disagreeing anyone that isn’t insulting me? I know yall are Americans so u might not get this but this isn’t some
global hot topic issue to me this is my heritage and identity which I would have an issue with I feel like it’s being attacked or invalidated. And I’d appreciate if you respected it and disagreed with my ideas instead of attacking me nonstop for some music takes. The same way a non black perosn wouldn’t question someone’s blackness, have some decency and just talk about the music not me. Mans talked it out alr leave it be

I disagreed with val as two Arabs having a conversation? And that wouldn’t absolve anything said to me and it wouldn’t still be s***ty and disgusting? He said it was a double entendre, that’s not a roast session dawg that’s disgusting. My take on what would be the best solution for Palestine Israel that guranteed the most safety for the most people does not have any relevance.

Btw I said either a two state solution or a one state solution managed by a third party destroying both the current Israel government and Hamas with palestinian representation right of return and removing Israeli birthright was what I thought to be the best solution and I thought Sally’s ideas were harmful and unproductive. You can think that’s not a good solution that’s up to you and not what I’m
Here for rn that was literally months ago. I’m not about to have a discussion about Palestine on a music discussion thread, it shouldn’t be that hard to treat people you disagree with with dignity and condemn homophobia and personal attacks on my heritage two things that I’ve and my family get persecuted for daily.

And yes it was10 years after, my point was if ur gonna invalidate everything else off a one white artist existing, then hip hop been ass since beastie boys to point out how ridiculous that is.

If your ready to talk about something of substance go off otherwise take some anger management classes and engage in ideas about MUSIC without insulting people

then hip hop been ass since beastie boys

    This but unironically

Ay if that’s ur take that’s ur take id disagree tho i dont think its ever been ass I love all eras I think it’s the greatest genre of all time and it’s the first I loved before I could even remember, off of 90s s*** that was after the beastie boys from my bro picking me up in school car smelling like SKUNK bumping redman 50 and ODB which was way after licensed to ill so I might be biased on that but I can talk divorced from that in a logical way still I feel like most of the greatest music has come since then

I been told by many people that Palestinians are just whites or Arabs that moved there from Greece or the peninsula by pro Israelis and Americans my whole life bro it’s a very common talking point and I just don’t appreciate Americans earnestly calling me that, it was obvious what u meant initially so ionno how else I was supposed to read take your ASS somewhere catch something your soft when you said it’s a double entendre but it’s whatever gang

Why u mentioning my identity at the end bruh we’ve talked in depth about my sexuality and my heritage before man why u keeping this up just drop it

why should I get out the genre I didn’t choose to be in a genre dawg this is what I was raised in this just the default

I don’t think we need people in the genre if they can’t talk about the music without getting personal like you are rn. I ain’t even slighting or discrediting any music. Just disagree respectfully man. It’s music. There’s no objective vulnerable or touching art its not measurable like 1+1 it’s just opinions it’s not the end of the world if we disagree

The real vulnerability is if the artist is able to convey a thought throughout the album that shows the listener that the man behind the mic is someone that has real emotions and feelings and hopes and dreams and not just someone following a template (mad fans of your artists in @op including users like @Nikedufflebag say a lot of these young artists aren't even "real geekers" so where does the truth lie?)

I would like to talk about this acc it’s an interesting point

I mean would you say songs can be vulnerable or an album can be contextualized through when someone is vulnerable? We have whole genres that aren’t based on the album format I feel like this is quite a novel definition of vulnerability. Whether it convinces u the person isn’t just lying and u can have empathy for their words taking it as genuine, I feel like that’s just a. Matter of whether you think they executed it properly and it hitting you that way is wildly subjective.
I think a***yzing whether people do real d**** or not is a bit silly, we can never know, and I’d rather just look at if the music itself is evoking something.

Also I’ve said people that have moments of vulnerability but also peoples who’s whole careers or albums are full of it. The framing of it within a story is only one tool. Future doesn’t have whole albums of vulnerability but it’s in the subtext through the rare moments he lays it out. But we’d still say future is an incredibly emotional vulnerable rapper right?

Specifically for the full projects thing I’ll get more specific for what ur looking for:

Nino paid’s love me as I am is nothing but vulnerability and reflection, and so is every lil Tony project
Untiljapan’s trompe l’oiel has an arc of heartbreak and is incredibly emotional and earnest
2093 is a chaotic long project that digs into this cycle of chaos, pain, and emotions in years fractured mind while also touching on his sobriety journey, which frames the wave of chaos after drowning in d**** for years
Mike’s discography is a chronicle of his growth as a person and each album since 2019 has been a step in growth from getting over the passing of his mother
Fakemink’s music portrays an ambitious mentally unwell young man prone to toxic relationships through a hazy, disoreinted lens
Veeze’s album gets slower and more dark with time, starting as a silly eclectic Detroit trap record then devolving into a somber colourless portrayal of the death, addiction, coping, and family issues that necessitate the d**** on the cover to cope
Jim Legxacy’s project samples and interpolates historic black British music staples throughout and the whole album is about his sister’s death, homelessness, his fathers abandonment of the family, and a stream of consciousness portraying the road from avoidance and distraction to the last song, a funeral song for his sister where the lyrics visualize her coffin being layed as they said goodbye, with moments of commentary on drill music all serving in subtext to portray his heritage and black British conditions. Even the cover directly references a book about the history of black British music and look at what the 3 slides show it longs up. His sister’s coffin, the mud he came from, busses, ski masks, landmarks, the car on his face etc etc
454’s name is after his the engine his father had in their car I believe which inspired his love for music and his production style samples the records of that era while he talks about all types of life dealings, losses, upbringing, and his father through it.

I pointed out the ones where it’s exceptions for said artist so as to point out these people are capable of vulnerability and imo have touched on some pretty personal s*** in their lives in a clearly earnest way sometimes, as I’ve had a lot of convos where people say “well atleast rappers back then would sometimes have some real s*** in their albums about their life like ludacris.

being vulnerable doesn't always elevate the writing though

i think it comes down to the quality of writing and also the delivery.
like imagine if the writing had the quality of adrianne lenker or phil elverum

    would be insane
