Pierce has made comments that someone has picked it up for a show but obv he is closely attached to make sure it gets the correct treatment

Started red rising last night but my god it feels like your stereotypical YA hunger games districts set up like giving me literal eye rolls

Reds and golds and laurels awarded to the hardest working group and obedience as the mantra of life yada yada…. It’s just screaming basic b**** YA setting please tell me it gets better

oh dude, the first book is my absolute least favorite of the series. I really didn’t like the third act of the first book. once you hit book two, it’s greatness all the way.

Just read the first 5 books in a month. Currently out of the country and waiting to get back to read the 6th. I want to read through the thread but I'm scared of spoilers.

that’s when the series really clicked for me. I have yet to read Lightbringer due to getting into some manga over the past few months but that’s going to be my first novel read in 2026.

I'm looking forward to getting into LB as well. I need something uplifting after Dark Ages. Hopefully Red God doesn't take too long to come out

Finished the first book and golden son, needless to say I’m pretty hooked lmao. Aside from my gripe about the initial setting being laid down, the action and pace is nonstop.

While the pace and action keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time and keeps you reading, I will also say the pacing sometimes leaves a lot of room for more exploration of things that I wish he would slow down to tell.

3rd book spoilers: ragnar noooo went out sad man.

Kinda my issue with the pacing though I think if the author left more time to explore the character(s), instead of constantly pushing forward with the plot action, stuff would hit harder. I was constantly left wanting more interactions with this character every scene he’s in, and the way Darrow convinced him to “become more” didn’t sell me, thought that could’ve been explored more.

just made it to part 3 of Lightbringer. I literally couldn’t put the book down today. the writing is on a new level here.

Finished the first book yesterday, been awhile since I read Fantasy and thought it was pretty good. I liked the surprise twists or plans Darrow would make ahead of time, the author hints at certain things but some are hard to predict.
