I RARELY see officers regularly inside subway stations other than 42 Times Square and 34 PennSt/Herald Sq stations lol
There was a whole ass army in the WTC oculus station last time i was there for obvious reasons 😂
But yeah other than those ive rarely seen them as well
Marginalized communities =/= TRAIN 🚂 STATIONS 🚉
I put the emojis so you could better understand
that's right.
cause marginalized communities don't ever use train stations.
this is gonna be the last time i say it in this thread but the NYPD literally cannot legally do anything. they are a completely useless agency because laws have been passed over the years because of the backlash of how they handled the 90s crimewave and now they are a lame duck organization. they can legitimately only legally do something after a crime has alerady happened, they can't even intervene. so yeah, they are completely useless, but it's not for the reason people think it is.
i don’t know much about NYPD so why do they get so much funding then?

Do you think train stations float in the ether?
Yo I was stop away from when this happened this morning
Just got home because trains were shut down and I couldn’t make it to work, I said f*** it and went home
Which I think is some people's point itt, that throwing money and cops at the problem won't fix it
I agree, but the issue is that money is a complete non-sequitur, removing that money or changing the amount of police doesn't really have any correlation to crime. You need to rework what legal boundaries the organization can act within for them for them to be effective, no matter if it's a $1 budget of a $1B budget. currently they could do the same thing on $1 as they could on their current budget because they have no purpose
this is wrong, they've done plenty
they just haven't done anything good
They’ve barely done anything. Experience on the train in July of last year and today is nearly identical. The only thing they did was add the “Please stand back from the edge until the train has arrived at the station” announcement which plays like 3x in a row. That’s the only noticeable difference.
I’m kinda interested to see what would happen if we took police out of every subway station/platform in NYC
Like how many more robberies, sexual assaults, shootings, etc would need to occur than normal for people to be like “hmmm that didn’t quite work”

Bro someone is gonna be less likely to randomly push an old lady down the stairs or shoving a woman into an oncoming train if police officers are literally standing right there
If nothing else at least they’ll be apprehended immediately
In what way does having officers on the platform hurt? If you can’t answer that then there’s no real reason for them not to be there. It just makes sense
Damn, y'all didn't even wait till page 10 to have the "we should have done this to prevent it" discussion.
We skipping past the reporting and prayers.
Idk if I like the efficiency lol

because the US is assbackwards and different segments of governemnt control different things. The same people passing the laws aren't the people making the budgets. So some people want more budget because they think money = less crime so they aprpove giving more budget, but then others pass laws restricting what they can do with that budget. Then years apss and those laws can't be repealed so then you end up with a useless bureaucracy. This isn't just in cops, it happens in every public sector.

Are they? Especially in new york

It would be absolute insanity. I had to travel out to Long Island a few times during the pandemic while they were still building the Moynihan train hall. Penn Station was a ghost town and was literally witnessing assaults take place on a regular basis with nobody there to do anything about it
This includes long island / jc / Hoboken which are essentially NYC metro areas
trust me i know where these places are. i live in nyc.
i do not feel like referencing the greater metro areas population in this comparison is valid as none of the places you mentioned use the MTA
young fashioned only used those numbers to make his argument more compelling.
Never ceases to amaze me how yall manage to make anything a debate
what else would the discussion about this event be?
How u want less cops at a station.. yall must live on the internet and far away from nyc lol

how efficient is prayers my guy
what else would the discussion about this event be?
Idk I wouldnt expect law enforcement funding tho
Who did this, why
Never ceases to amaze me how yall manage to make anything a debate
This is literally relevant to the issue at hand
Anyone has info on what happened? I know it was a shooting, but I don’t know much because I was trying to get home
Was literally stop away from that station when s*** went down tf
S*** hit close to home
