    mr get dough

my only thing with this is i feel like earls personal accountability is really exaggerated

i feel like he always talks about it like its weird but doesnt talk about himself like he was weird

I feel like comparatively Earl's whole thing is always "if you're still on this, you desperately need to grow out of it"

Whereas Tyler is more so acting like all of this is happening in spite of him, and not including him.

True but i don’t know why that gets viewed as accountability. I’m not tryna s*** on Earl at all either, I think he really is an amazing person and rapper i just dont think hes really taken accountability either people just know he changed.

Tyler has done the same you guys need to grow up, its lame to talk about rape and say the f word all day thing too he was really big on that around the same time earl started doing it

I think a lot of the old edgy stuff Tyler used to do was simply him being a c00n/racially insecure. he's made some great music over the years but he strikes me as someone who just now is becoming secure in his blackness even tho he's 30 something, I particularly get annoyed when he acts like mainstream hiphop didn't fw him mainly because of "upside down crosses" when in reality you and your homies were flicked up wearing klan hoods with nooses around yalls necks and selling blackface merch to white teens which is a horrible look seeing that Tyler is Nigerian and of course hiphop is made and driven by African Americans (not saying this on some diaspora war s*** but its worth pointing out)

He's made his bed now he gotta lie in it

I like his music and used to be a huge tyler fan back in the day but the amount of dumb s*** he's said and done he deserves what's happening to him ngl. He's actually really lucky this is the worst of it because most niggas wouldn't even have a career or platform at this point.

I mean they didn't have much of a choice

No Child Left Behind, no more liner notes, the infatuation of reality TV, the emergence of Hip-Hop to mainstream culture without insular ownership, etc

Tyler wasn't even raised in an African household tho, like he had no real exposure to African culture in his formative years

His last name is Okonma, ain't no ducking that lol

Tyler was an edgy closeted teen so he gets an excuse.

Gambino was a grown ass man tho

Tyler platform all confused tho. he was just saying he don’t care about the f slur a few years ago at 30, but now he does. he said he don’t care about black people and showed it proudly, but now he does. unfortunately, once you welcome it in and don’t check it, it’s virtually impossible to get it off of you unless you overcorrect and piss people off for real lmfao

Tyler was a grown ass man doing that edgy s*** lol. He didn't really stop til after Cherry Bomb in 2015. Idk why people keep running with that narrative he did all s*** when he was a teen when he was in his mid 20s still doing that lmfao

Tyler did this to himself, he won’t get sympathy until he acknowledges that

Whenever they tried to "cancel" him he just shrugged it off and called them b****es basically lol. He had so many opportunities to own up to it but refuses. Nigga never wants to admit he was wrong lol.

I'm curious how Tyler responds to this particular kinda backlash he's getting. Before when he'd deal with stuff like this he'd just brush it off as overly PC Gen Z teenagers discovering his old music.

He's got Black folks on his ass because the fans he cultivated during that era of his career talking wild about Black art/artists.

If he responds I wonder how he will go about it. Especially since he's been tryna rebrand himself as an artist looking to be embraced by a Black audience more.

Tyler is too much of a narcissist to admit he was wrong. In his head he justifies his past and believes it's everyone else's fault for not accepting the new him. He's still very successful which is what enables him to keep thinking it's everyone else not him who's the problem here.

Kanye found Tyler’s tumblr and said bet, let me try that too niggas tryna justify using nazism by reclaiming it is hilarious, that’s really his goat

good take but calling tyler nigerian in spite of him being raised by an american mom and his dad not being in the picture is wild, nothing about him is culturally nigerian

Chromakopia is an ode to his Nigerian heritage down to the green and white lmfaoo. the last 4 years of his career have been him embracing his heritage per Virgil’s request to reconnect with his roots

To my knowledge, this is the most direct he's talked about it.
He speaks on it with some lyrics too, most recent is THOUGHT I WAS DEAD"

his references are pure simulacrum. if he was raised completely american, detached from his nigerian heritage apart from his name it’s a stretch to use his nigerian-ness as a reason why he shouldn’t be referencing racist caricatures in black american history. not saying the sambo character was justified.
