Idk really. People are still buying the steam deck in 2025 despite it being massively underpowered compared to other devices on the market, the success of that might translate a little

its not supposed to be a ps5 killer and they dont market it that way either

its supposed to be an entry level mid-tier pc / console for people that are too scared or lazy to build a pc just to plug n play + introduce them to steam ecosystem

Yeah, it's essentially just a more powerful 'Steam Library Access Point'. Perfect for folks who don't have a mid-range+ gaming PC (or in my case a PC at all) and want to use the access to games they bought for their Steam Deck (or Steam Frame) with more powerful hardware at home. Also a great companion to stream to the Frame. Good ecosystem play

I feel like “massively underpowered” is a little dramatic. They are nice if all-most of your games are on steam but I guess the console will be good for that same exact reason. I just don’t know why they want to compete in the console space. I’m sure their headset will be top notch, but like most people itt have said, if it’s more than 600$ there doesn’t seem to be a good reason to get it.

It'll run BF6 at 1080p Ultra ~45fps & 4K High at ~20fps
Those figures are higher if FSR is used

(Based on BF6 benchmarks for the RX 7600 which has ~14% more CUs & a higher power limit)

I reckon it'll be able to play GTA 6 at 1080p medium but I can imagine it & other 8GB VRAM GPUs will struggle big time at high/Ultra settings & 1440p and higher resolutions

What’s a solid controller for the steam deck? I’ve been rocking a used Xbox one controller since I got the deck. Should I hold out for the new steam controller or get a newer Xbox controller? Or is there a third party that does controllers better?
