lil treat volume 2 to make up for the extended wait on weezers camp, more alike music, as promised:

this band is very dear to me, there’s two singers songwriters and one of them is known in the weezer timeline for having done the homie album in collaboration with another weezer fan

that homie tribute album consists of them recording some of the demos for the attempted homie album (it was a side project rivers had post pinkerton when he was in boston, more country inspired but never saw the light of the day, all we got from it were live recordings bootlegs of these songs as he premiered them live with his band before canceling it but that’s about it) but also some abandoned songs for weezers third album before it turned into what would become the green album

it all comes super coherent and professional, it’s the closest we will ever get to a full version of it, similar to how that group of fans got together to make, as much as they could, fleshed out finished product of songs from the black hole project

the talent is immense and the performance really gives the songs justice, i consider some of these songs to be one of rivers finest work

however, here’s two for one if you want something not weezer related: as i was saying one of these guys had his own band, they never took off or anything, just local stuff, only did one ep then broke up, but what an amazing of indie piece it is

weezer infused but more so smashing pumpkins and some beach boys, great alternative stuff with hooks for days, stellar performance all around:

if you like what you hear here’s a link to stream the ep in full:
    https://thelunatic.bandcamp.com/album/milk

it’s free to listen but if you fw it feel free to pay for it, they really aren’t a thing (their videos on youtube have like 500 views max and s*** dropped in 2011) so it would be cool

i can guarantee you that no one else other than me will ever bring this band up to y’all lol but it’s a shame, they’re crazy talented and you guys would love it i think

    Mfs think idk ab Homie

you listened to their take on it?

LOVE the harmonic intro they composed just for the occasion for sheila

what a talent to cover such a goat song and add an original piece to it

this song will be on van weezer, however rivers confirmed of letting go of rosemary and baby, bummer

    here’s something funny

one time while rivers was streaming getting ready for a weezer show, he just did the vip stuff with the fans and i knew someone who went to the show and made a physical copy of that homie fan made tribute album to give to rivers he confirmed to me that rivers had it

so i was in the chat in the streaming so i said hey rivers show us that homie cd my guy gave you!

    and history was made:

I still remember I pm'd Lifetaker years back asking about the Lunatic album they did before Milk, I was just like bro can you upload it to Bandcamp so I can cop that too, and he was just like "it's all good bro gimme a bit"

then this mfer just casually uploaded like everything he ever worked on in one download for me

    forgot about this too

in 2004 rivers seeked for forgiveness through his newfound religion and reunited with matt sharp, matt said they were working on an album together but nothing ever came out of it, there’s 0% infos on it, only one new original song that they debuted live acoustically and that’s all, surely if one song was finished it must’ve been recorded in some way if not more..?

so again lifetaker, the one and only amazing talent behind the half of the homie tribute album and the band the lunatics did a magnificent recording to bless our ears
