People keep talking about racism but if you think there wasn’t going to be heavy dissatisfaction with a self proclaimed socialist becoming the mayor of the financial capital of the world then idk what to say. Not everything is racist, plenty of people just do not like his ideas and plans.

Yes. Born in Harlem, raised in the Bronx. I moved to SF and bought a house in Burlingame this year though. I had been planning to leave New York since around 2022. Didn’t like where things were headed.

Still the best city in human history and returning is always a possibility but definitely not for the foreseeable future.

Didn’t like how things were in NY so you went to SF?

this guy's weird complex about race specifically reminds me a lot of bernie's 2020 campaign vs 2016
his actual policies arent that different from most other post-2018 progressives in the US, labels aside.
he's getting the brunt of american racial resentment so i get his internal need to have backlash against that rhetoric but it doesnt really make sense to include that as part of policy when youre in a city as overwhelmingly diverse in class & race as nyc

50 Cent is well-known behind closed doors as a serious marxist and doesn't believe Zohran's plan goes far enough to enact the change he sees fit, for people who didn't read the article.

you think he incites race more than it has felt like the entire democratic party has the past 4 years? i get a different impression from everything ive seen from him and didn’t see anything too crazy when reading his platform. even if his policy ends up as part of his policy, ive felt his messaging has conveyed a different sympathy

no, i don't think he does really, but i do think where the discussion lies from him vs (most) others is different. democrats have been obsessed way more over race for sure but by comparison they've been obsessed from a very specific angle, which is less ""exclusionary"" for lack of a better term and more like ""narrowly inclusive"".
for example, democrat ideas are definitely half cop-outs and more rhetorically aligned to things like "we need to give more resources to x race". they've been careful (for the most part) not to appear exclusionary of whites but align whites as allies to some abstract cause of raising up "black and brown communities". its obviously performative non-sense. like yeah there's ""CRT and DEI"" but those are crudely broad concepts not specific really to the DNC
by comparison, i think this guy is really one of the only (notable) politicians ive seen in my lifetime who explicitly has said stuff like "we need to tax white neighborhoods more" as opposed to the party line of "we need to raise taxes to help minority communities" (even if functionally the same due to class/race intersection). looking at this twitter history he definitely has been openly annoyed with whites. i'm not casting judgement per-se on him as a candidate it's just surprising because i can't imagine even someone ""radical"" like omar or tlaib saying that

    just some heavy dissatisfaction

Tuberville says ‘inner city rats’ live off the American taxpayers: Trump should send them ‘back home’
    al.com/politics/2025/06/tuberville-says-inner-city-rats-live-off-the-american-taxpayers-trump-should-send-them-back-home.html

“'You can stop the federal funding,' Tuberville said. 'President Trump can do anything he wants when it comes to the federal. Again, these inner-city rats, they live off the federal government. And that’s one reason we’re $37 trillion in debt.

'And it’s time we find these rats and we send them back home, that are living off the American taxpayers, that are working very hard every week to pay taxes.'

Tuberville drew fire for some comments about whether people from urban areas should come to Alabama.

'Well, don’t be expecting a free lunch, I promise you,' he said. 'Bring your lunch with you because you’re not going to be welcomed if you’re going to bring that Communist, Islamic atmosphere with you. We’re not going to deal with it. I’m telling you right now...

'They are going to try and overwhelm us....We have got to fight back.'

    ...

The comments came after [Benny] Johnson asked Tuberville about Zohran Mamdani, a New York State assemblyman who won the Democratic primary for the New York City mayor’s race on Tuesday."

i think its both but him being established kinda from the left field (on a 'socialist' platform though obv it doesnt mean anything) is a bigger problem for people in the know. mixing racism in is muddying the fact that ruling classes make non-irrational decision in their self interest all the time

It’s 100% both because a lot of republicans and their base are just dumb and know racism is an easy jab.

I just don’t want any criticism of the guy to be seen as racist cus I don’t fw either of these parties or politicians in general and I’m still not in board with this. Adams is straight ass too so it’s just a fat L regardless I suppose
